April 2023 Pine Knoll Shores 50th Anniversary Events^ April 22, 2023 Rain Date: April 29 Pine Knoll Shores Town Hall and Grounds Join the not-to-be-missed Pine Knoll Shores 50th Anniversary celebration on April 22 at the Pine Knoll Shores town hall for a day of family fun with games, food, town history displays, giveaways, items for sale, music and more. See list above for article locations throughout this issue with details of club’s individual events. 11 a.m.—Celebration begins (all booths are open) Pine Knoll Shores History Committee’s displays and slide shows begin inside town hall, including town history books, childrens coloring book station and more Bouncy house and children’s games (Go Fishing, Ping Pong, Nerf Football Throw, Battleship, Rubiks Cube, Hungry Hippos and more) 50th Anniversary t-shirt sales Garden Club plant, hand scrub and garden gloves sale as well as free popcorn Appearance Commission tree giveaway Self-Guided History Tour (maps inside town hall) Police and Fire Department Vehicles 11:30 a.m.—Welcome & Opening Remarks PKS Mayor John Brodman PKS Historians Introduction of Special Guests Important details In the event of inclement weather, the call will be made on April 20 to change to the rain date. Notification of a change will be by town-wide email and Facebook posts. Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs if desired. Any high school- age youth who are willing to assist with childrens games are encouraged to contact Martha Edwards at edwardsmarthal944@ gmail.com or 252-723-5532. The circle in front of town hall is reserved for handicapped parking. Others should park diagonally along Pine Knoll Boulevard. The following Pine Knoll Shores clubs/commissions and community organizations are scheduled to have booths at the celebration: Appearance Commission, Council on Aging, Friends of the Bogue Banks Public Library, Garden Club, History Committee, Kayak for the Warriors, Parks & Recreation Committee, Pine Knoll Association, NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, Trinity Center and Womens Club. 1 p.m.—Children’s Races (Three-Legged Race, Sack Race, Hippy Hop Race, Big Wheel Race) 2 p.m.—Children’s Races repeat, Pennies in the Sawdust 2:30 p.m.—Scavenger Hunt (open to children and adults) 3 p.m.—Children’s Races repeat 3:30 p.m.—Awards & Prizes 4 p.m.—Celebration concludes 12 noon—Lunch (no cost) PKS Women’s Club (NC BBQ sandwiches) PKS Fire Auxiliary, Fire & Police Departments (hot dogs, hamburgers and free ice cream) Children’s Games resume (Toss Across, Hopscotch, Jump Rope, and more) Standard Pre-Sort Permit #35 ,NC 28512
